Executive Directors Message

"The probability that we may fail in the struggle ought not to deter us from the support of a cause we believe to be just." Abraham Lincoln
The Association of County Commissioners of Oklahoma (ACCO) stands on the front lines of communication with our State and Federal Legislators. The actions taken by our legislators regulate the counties mandates of responsibility and sources of funding. Counties struggle to meet the demands of citizens to provide more needed services as inflation has not been met with any increase of funding to counties.
As we enter a new era of national leadership, let us be reminded that counties must play a pivotal role if we are to prevail. ACCO promotes educational training and hosts conferences to provide attendees with an environment of sharing ideas and setting strategic goals. County government belongs to the people; it is operated by people of the community to provide valuable services to all constituents in the most cost effective way.
County Transportation Partners (CTP) include State, City, Tribes and other alliances combining their resources and ideas to create solutions to our transportation challenges. Whether it be the roads we travel or the bridges we cross, together we serve as the foundation of safety to all citizens. Our strength and success as a team is dependant on the collective sharing of ideas and working together. We face the same challenges on different levels of shared responsibility to our citizens.
County Commissioners working unified will find innovative solutions to the adverse challenges we face; we are peerless when working as one.
The opportunity for future developments will be limited by our imaginations. The attitudes reflected by the leadership of our organization must set clear goals and priorities. The choices we make today will determine our legacy for all the tomorrows to come.
Let us join together as leaders in support of our causes we believe to be just. It is a great time and a great honor to serve as Executive Director of The Association of County of Oklahoma.
